- Do students have to be Lutheran to enroll at RLA?
No. While our educational philosophy is rooted in Christ-centered principles, RLA is open to students of all faiths who are interested in embracing our Christ-centered environment.
- Is RLA an accredited school?
Yes, Resurrection Lutheran Academy is accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA). It successfully completed the rigorous national accrediting process designed to evaluate schools based on their unique purpose as a Lutheran school. This process helps schools to evaluate the quality of their academics and programs on an ongoing basis.
- What is RLA’s educational philosophy?
RLA is committed to providing quality, whole-child education that integrates the faith throughout the student's total school life. It has a Christ-centered learning environment and strives for academic excellence, cultivating a lifetime of spiritual growth and service to God and to others. The philosophy of Christian education of RLA is rooted in the belief that we exist to assist parents as the main educators of their children. Our goal is to produce children who know and believe in their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We strive for them to learn to live faithful, responsible, God-fearing citizens in the world wherever God has placed them.
- What makes RLA a Lutheran school?
We believe that a Lutheran education must 1) train and nurture children in the way of Christ for life as Christian people; 2) provide high academic excellence in preparation for service to God, church and community; and 3) cultivate each child’s God-given potential by developing his or her mental, social physical, emotional, and spiritual gifts. In identifying ourselves as Lutheran, we proudly confess that we belong to one, holy, catholic and Apostolic Church of all times and places; and that we are committed to the Christian faith as revealed in the Holy Scriptures and faithfully explained in the Lutheran Book of Concord of 1580 and all other official Lutheran Missouri Synod documents as found at www.lcms.org. Through this Lutheran identity, we serve students of Lutheran and other faith traditions and backgrounds in our Christ-centered environment.
- Does RLA participate in Indiana state testing?
Yes, RLA participates in Indiana state testing such as the I-Learn and I-Read for applicable grades. While we give these yearly tests to participate in particular government programs, we do not believe that one score determines a child’s intelligence. We use the test scores as an academic snapshot and one part of our effort to continually evaluate learning strategies on an individual and school level.
- What grade levels are offered at RLA?
Our program includes preschool (for ages 3+) through 8th grade.
- What is the typical class size?
We employ dedicated teachers who work closely with students in small classes. On average our classrooms have about 12-15 students. We believe that positive, caring environments focusing on our students as individuals helps them grow and learn. Starting in first grade, we have dual classrooms (1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th, 7th and 8th). This provides an opportunity for students to both lead and follow in the classroom. Some subjects are taught to the entire class, while others are broken into single grades or learning groups.
- Is there financial assistance available?
Yes, we have financial assistance available for students in K-8th grade. We strongly believe in our mission to provide a Christ-centered education and work diligently to provide financial assistance to our school families. We currently utilize three programs including the Dale Timm Scholarship Fund, Indiana School of Choice Scholarship, and the Lutheran Scholarship ranting Organization of Indiana. For more information, please review our enrollment packet or contact us directly.
